New Android Trojan Which Gains Device Administrator Status Without You Even Knowing It!

Kaspersky, one of the leading IT security firms has discovered the most sophisticated trojan which enters your Android device, sends SMS without letting you know, downloads other malware & spreads it using bluetooth! If that’s not enough, this trojan secretly gets device administrator status, allows others to remotely control your device and makes it impossible for you to delete it!
This trojan has been named “Backdoor.AndroidOS.Obad.a” by Kaspersky which also names it as the deadliest trojan that could ever enter your Android smartphone or tablet!
Backdoor.AndroidOS.Obad.a has been well-coded and most of the code has been obfuscated. Obad uses several Android security loopholes and the creators of this deadly virus have made use of an error present in the popular APK to JAR conversion software DEX2JAR.
Once this trojan enters your device and is executed, it immediately tries to obtain Device Administrator status and once it gets that, your phone has a new owner! By owner I mean your device can now be remotely controlled, malware can be downloaded and spread automatically.
The problem with this trojan is that, once the installed malware gets administrator privilege, it’s nearly impossible to delete it! This is because it’s not listed as an application with device administrator privileges but it still enjoys them!
It’s difficult for a normal user to identify this trojan since it performs most of the work silently. Also this trojan lacks an interface. It works silently in the background. So you won’t even know if the trojan is installed on your device and if it’s running.
This menace is not wide-spread and affects less than 0.15% of all Android devices. Google has already been informed regarding this trojan and in the next Android update we might probably see the loopholes cleared.
For time being, you can use an antivirus. I recommend using Kaspersky Mobile Security. I use the premium version myself and I’m happy with it. I’ve it installed on all my Android devices and no virus has dared to enter my smartphone so far ;/0

BLOCK YOUTUE ADS WITH SIMOLE BROWSER COMMAND

While there are several ways to block YouTube ads here’s why you shouldn’t use them and instead use this simple browser command which blocks all YouTube ads just like other add-ons or extensions! This simple command can block the video ads which play inside videos as well and you don’t have to use an additional plugin or extension or add-on! No installations whatsoever!
You just need to copy-paste a simple command in your browser’s developer console and you are good to go. You’ll never see an advertisement again while browsing your favorite YouTube videos.
Out of the several experiments being conducted by Google at TestTube, one less known experiment can successfully hide all ads on YouTube with a simple browser command. Here’s how to use it:

  1. Open any YouTube video. Any video works but try with a video where you can see some ads.
  2. Open the developer console. You can right-click -> Click on Inspect Element -> Choose Console. Or simply press Ctrl-Shift-J for Google Chrome and Ctrl-Shift-K for Mozilla Firefox and in Internet Explorer, press F12 and select Console.
  3. Paste the following code:
document.cookie="VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE=oKckVSqvaGw; path=/; domain=.youtube.com";window.location.reload();

If you wish to see the advertisements again simply follow the first two steps and paste this code instead.

document.cookie="VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE=; path=/; domain=.youtube.com";window.location.reload();

And the ads are gone. Well since this a temporary workaround and not a permanent solution we really can’t predict when it’ll stop working. But for now since it’s working let’s use it and forget what’s to come in future! Enjoy an ad-free experience without any plugins!

10 REASONS YOUR ANTI-VIRUS SUCK&WHAT YOUCAN DO ABOUT IT

If you have often found yourself struggling to find the root cause of all software related problems in your PC or laptop, then chances are that the PC or laptop is infected by a nasty virus that cannot be neutralized or fixed. Now you might be convincing yourself that your antivirus is capable of protecting your device against every sort of deadly threat, but the fact of the matter is unless you have done a proper research before selecting an antivirus, there is a huge chance that you have made a wrong choice.
Our computers are now in a state of vulnerability more than ever as the rise of Internet use has also given birth to a large number of hackers who are always on the prowl to attack at any chance. Whether it is stealing your personal information and gain access to your bank account, or just to inflict damage to your system, there are various sorts of viruses and malware that can be hard to remove by your everyday, ordinary antivirus.
it sucks
So what can you do about your ineffective antivirus?
For a start, do not believe in every false claim made by the manufacturers and learn to do some research on some antivirus software available in the market. If you’re still not sure about the things that make your antivirus ineffective, then keep on reading to find out more.

Why Does Your Antivirus Suck?

  1. Lack of regular updates:

This is the prime reason most antivirus companies fail to deliver on their promises as they do not put enough effort to keep their virus checker updated. If you own an antivirus that only receives updates once in a while, then apparently a time will come when viruses on the Internet will get advanced and eventually break through your security system. Lack of updates makes the antivirus base obsolete because of which the software loses its credibility completely.
  • Solution
Keep a check if you are receiving regular antivirus updates. If you think that your antivirus base is not updating, then do not hesitate to call the customer care support to ask for a solution. If the company cannot provide a solution to your problem, then it is time to uninstall the program and look for an effective antivirus immediately.
  1. Unknown brand name:
When choosing antivirus software, it is important to realize that brand value matters. If you discover that your antivirus is not performing up to expectations, simply go through the brand image and reputation of the company. The chances are that you have invested your money in buying a product that is only either half complete or broken altogether.
What separates reputable companies from the non-reputed ones is the reliability that the former brings.
  • Solution
Since a lot of new companies are offering virus protecting solutions, it is important to go through the company’s background and reviews of other users before investing money on their product. Otherwise, you can just stick to brands that are famous all around the world and have a favorable reputation for providing leading-edge protection against all sorts of viruses and malware.
Some known and reliable brands are Norton, Kaspersky, Avast, BitDefender, AVG, etc.
  1. Outdated virus scanner:
This is a direct result of not receiving updates as the virus database that needs to be regularly updated becomes inefficient. When a virus scanner becomes obsolete, it fails to detect and remove any new viruses does leading to computer system’s damage.
One of the signs of an old virus scanner is nonproduction of viruses. If you are frequently encountering problems with your PC antivirus tests are not showing up with any relevant data or directions, there is a high chance that the virus scanner has become obsolete.
  • Solution
If you found out that your virus database has become dysfunctional or ineffective for whatever reason, then you can always try and download updates manually if there is such facility on the company website.
If no such service provided, then it is time to move on to a new and better antivirus.
  1. Inefficiency in performance:
If your antivirus is continually failing to reach up to expectations, then it could point towards the fact that it is the sole responsibility of the company for having failed to make a good antivirus.
Sometimes, lesser-known antivirus brands, produce and release half baked programs to generate quick money. Whether they have the intention of fixing their already broken program or doing nothing at all is up to them, and you should not be bothered about it. Some signs of inefficiency can be seen if an antivirus continually fails to quarantine or remove infected programs or in some cases, fails to make proper detection even after repeated efforts.
  • Solution
Makers who release incomplete antivirus software have dubious intentions as they’re only looking forward to making quick money, and not help people with their problems. There is no solution as such for a broken program as it is the company’s responsibility to make a proper release.
If you are a victim of purchasing broken antivirus software, you can ask for money refund or just replace the product with something new and better.
  1. Lack of features:
Think your antivirus has it all? A litmus test to find out the answer to this question is to notice the kind of features that your antivirus comes with by default.
Some essential elements that every good antivirus must have are,

  1. Real-time protection
  2. Registry fixer
  3. Full system scan
  4. System files can only
  5. Scheduled scan
  6. Game mode
  7. Quarantine mode
If your antivirus lacks these essential features, then there is a high chance that it might underperform and remain below your expectations. Lack of features also makes the program a hassle to use because every time you have to schedule scans and perform virus removal manually.
  • Solution
Before purchasing a full subscription of an antivirus program, it is always a good idea to use their demo version that is available for free. That way you can make sure that the antivirus covers the basic features that are required for proper functioning.
Also, if you’re unsatisfied with the product that you have purchased, some companies even have money refund system that you can use to your advantage.
  1. Poor interface:
What’s the use of installing an antivirus if you have difficulty just navigating through the menu? Unfortunately, there are various antiviruses that are so poorly designed that even a first time user might find themselves close to splitting hair just to get it working.
An effective antivirus has to be user-friendly so that even people who have no experience with working with computer programs can navigate through various features and use the antivirus to best suit their needs. Cluttered interface, difficult language, unwanted advertisements through pop-ups, and lack of user friendliness in operation can be considered as a poorly designed interface.
  • Solution
The antivirus that you wish to purchase should have easy to navigate menus, which you can ensure by trying out a demo version of the program. Once you’ve tried out the demo, then you can make the necessary judgment whether you want to proceed with buying the full version or not.
Otherwise, it is a good idea to steer clear of non-reputed brands if you want to ensure that you never get duped.
  1. Inadequate detection rate:
If your antivirus scanner is consistently failing to detect suspicious programs in compressed and uncompressed forms, then there is a strong chance that it is not performing as well as you would like it to.
If your system is experiencing slowdowns, unexpected restarts, and various other malfunctions that would point towards intrusion of a virus, then a good antivirus with a healthy rate of detection is required to properly eliminate the problem.
Cheap antivirus software are often made with the intention to make quick money, and they barely serve the purpose of protecting your system. This is the reason there are so many new companies mushrooming every day with the intention to rip off for substandard software.
  • Solution
Never go for a cheap or unrecognizable antivirus brand as you will most probably end up being unsatisfied with the services. Bad detection rate can only be fixed by those who made the program, and there is very little that you can do about it.
So, from next time onwards, be careful about which antivirus you buy as you never know what you might be getting yourself into.
  1. Resource hungry:
If you ever noticed that your system is experiencing slowdowns or regular hangups while the antivirus tool is running, then it can mean that the program is taking too much of your resources. Efficient antivirus software should be light on the machine and consume the least amount of RAM and processing power possible, leaving enough for other vital programs to run.
Since an antivirus is a background program responsible for protecting your PC or laptop, it should never become a priority for the system resources available.
  • Solution
An antivirus eating up too much of resources is an indicator of bad programming and design.
Some of the world’s best antivirus programs like Avast, Eset, Norton, Kaspersky, etc. are light and highly efficient tools that barely take a toll on your PC’s computing power.
Keep this in mind the next time you decide to buy an antivirus.
  1. Bad pricing:
When buying an antivirus, you have to ensure that you’re getting money’s worth. Otherwise, it is all a waste. There are hundreds of antivirus software available on the Internet that are either available for free or sold at extremely cheap rates; however, their effectiveness and rate of detection varies considerably.
Many a times, some unscrupulous companies try to sell their underdeveloped product at high prices in order create an impression that their product is in high demand. On the contrary products like these should be avoided at all costs.
  • Solution
So, if you’re confused about what antivirus to spend your money on if the free deal is not working for you, then you must go over legitimate reviews of other users who have tried and tested such antivirus tools. Otherwise, just stick to known antivirus brands that have a long history of being the best in the business.
  1. Bad subscription packages:
Last but not least, if your antivirus is charging you an enormous price to allow you to just access the functionalities for few months, it is time that you looked the other way.
Most popular antivirus companies like Avast, Norton, Bitdefender, Kaspersky, etc. have a very affordable subscription scheme that allows you to buy usage of the product for a year or two. There are also multiple system packages that enable you to install the same product in more than one computer or laptops.
  • Solution
A good way to understand if your antivirus company is robbing you off is to check and compare prices with various other products available in the market. Antivirus is getting cheaper in cost every passing day as companies have now begun to understand the fact that it is a necessity that people need rather than a luxury that very few can afford.
What are you thinking now?
So now you know quite a lot of reasons why your antivirus probably sucks.
Use the knowledge you gained to your advantage the next time you go ahead and buy an antivirus because only you can take the appropriate steps in choosing the right one according to your needs. You must never overlook the fact that antivirus software is necessary to maintain the health of your system and keep it running smooth and steady.
Also, look out for antivirus packages that include spyware and malware removal tools, since these are two other disturbing elements that often intrude a system to produce disastrous results.
Remember, the safest way to ensure that you have the right antivirus is to judge by its brand name and decide upon a product after a fair degree of research.

Have a problem with WhatsApp? Here are the solutions

WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps out there, with roughly 10 percent of human beings actively using it every month. Given this volume of use, it's clear it gets a lot of things right, but today we will be concentrating on what it gets wrong. Here are some of the most common WhatsApp problems on Android and their solutions.

I can't install WhatsApp

In order to download the latest version of WhatsApp, you need to have a smartphone running Android version 2.1 (by the end of 2016, Android 2.1 and 2.2 will no longer be supported) or higher. You can check your phone's current Android version in Settings > About Phone.
If you're trying to install the WhatsApp app from the WhatsApp website, you'll need to have Unknown Sources enabled in your security settings. Go to Settings > Security > Unknown Sources to activate it.

How do I install WhatsApp on a tablet?

If you have a tablet that only works with Wi-Fi, you will have problems installing WhatsApp, because you generally need a SIM card and a phone number to activate your WhatsApp account.
There is a solution to this problem. All you need is a working cell phone, your phone number, and our. A word of caution: if you play around with things that aren't normally allowed, you do so at your own risk.

WhatsApp connection problems are usually caused by your Wi-Fi or network data connection. If you aren't able to send a message, here are a few solutions:
  • Make sure your phone is switched on (one for the newbies).
  • Install the latest version of the app from the Play Store (link above).
  • Check your internet connection, Wi-Fi or 3G (in Settings > Wireless and Network).
  • Make sure that a Task Killer app isn't affecting WhatsApp.
  • Empty the app cache (Settings > Applications > WhatsApp > Clear Cache).
  • Finally, the most extreme solution: uninstall the app and then reinstall it.

WhatsApp doesn't recognize my contacts

There are a few reasons why WhatsApp wouldn't recognize your contacts, so here is a simple checklist to make sure it does:
  • Make sure you have the correct contact numbers (the ones they use for WhatsApp).
  • Make sure that they are currently using WhatsApp.
  • Make sure you have the latest version of WhatsApp.
  • In your contact list, make sure all of you contacts are 'visible' and/or 'viewable'.
  • In your contact list, make sure all of your contact groups (friends, family, co-workers, etc) are set to 'visible' and/or 'viewable'.

How do I add international contacts in WhatsApp?

We've all been there: you're traveling through South America on your gap year, and you're introduced to that guy in that hostel that you know you'll want to keep in touch with forever. You get his digits, and search for him in WhatsApp, but he's not there...
The solution is simple: when adding international contacts, you must always make sure you include the correct regional code (for example, +51 for Peru), even if your current number uses the same code. It might help if the other person does the same for your number too. If you're entering the country code manually, you'll need to delete the first 0 from the number, too.

How do I block contacts in WhatsApp?

People block contacts for any number of reasons. I'm not here to judge. The process is very simple. To block a contact, all you need to do is go to the conversation with the contact you wish to block, tap the options button (the three dots), tap More and then tap Block.
You can add as many contacts as you like to this black list and then you won't receive any more messages from them. If you later decide you would like to unblock a contact, go back to the same place and choose Unblock.

What does 'Last Seen' mean in WhatsApp?

The 'Last Seen' time stamp tells you when a user was last using WhatsApp. This does not necessarily mean that they have read your messages, only that they opened the application.
When you're in WhatsApp and one of your contacts also opens WhatsApp, you'll see their status change to 'Online' but again, this doesn't mean they're looking at your messages, just that they are using WhatsApp.

How do I hide my Last Seen timestamp in WhatsApp?

In WhatsApp, go to your Settings, then to Account, then to Privacy. In this menu, tap Last Seen and select Nobody from the options that pop up. This means that no one will be able to see the last time you had WhatsApp open. Enabling this option means that you won't be able to see when your contacts were last online either.

I can't see Last Seen on WhatsApp

If you are unable to see the Last Seen timestamp in a conversation, it could be for a number of reasons. If you've disabled your Last Seen time in Settings > Account > Privacy > Last seen, then you won't be able to see other people's Last Seen times, either.
If the problem is only with one or some contacts, then it might mean that they've disabled the Last Seen time in their WhatsApp settings. If they're still receiving and responding to your messages, this is almost certainly the case.
The final reason is that a contact has blocked you. If your messages never get past the two grey ticks, then this makes it more certain that you've been blocked, and if you can't see changes to the contact's profile, then you've certainly been blocked. Many apologies.

How do I pay for WhatsApp?

WhatsApp is now entirely free. So no need to worry about this anymore.

How do I backup my WhatsApp conversations?

As of version 2.12.453 of the app, WhatsApp now supports Google Drive backups, which are by far the easiest way of ensuring none of your conversations are erased from existence. Set this up by going to Settings > Chats and calls > Chat backup. You can choose how often you want WhatsApp to automatically backup your messages and media and set it so it only does so when you're connected to Wi-Fi.

What do the blue check marks mean in WhatsApp?

There is a lot of confusion about what the two checks (or tick marks) in your WhatsApp message window mean. If you want a complete breakdown of all the markings in WhatsApp, take a look  article, which also covers the microphone markings for audio messages.
Here is a quick summary:
  • The clock symbol means your message is yet to be sent from your device.
  • One gray tick means that the message has been sent and has been received by the WhatsApp server.
  • Two gray ticks mean the message has been delivered to the intended device.
  • Two blue ticks mean that the recipient/recipients have seen the message. (In group conversations, this means when all participants in the group have viewed the message.)

How do I stop people from knowing that I've read their messages?

As of WhatsApp version 2.11.444, you can disable the WhatsApp blue check marks (read receipts) so that users do not know whether you have read your messages. This works both ways, so only disable this if you're OK with not knowing who has read your messages too. Go to Settings > Account > Privacy > Read Receipts.

How do I delete my WhatsApp account?

Firstly, deleting your WhatsApp account and deleting the WhatsApp app are two different things. If you make the decision to cut ties with WhatsApp, you can just uninstall if from your device. You will be able to download it again from the Play Store later if you want to, but this is not the same as deleting your account.
  • To uninstall the WhatsApp app from your phone: go to Settings > Apps > WhatsApp > Uninstall.
  • To delete your WhatsApp account entirely: go to WhatsApp > Menu > Settings > Account > Delete My Account and confirm your phone number. You also have the option to change your WhatsApp number associated with your account here.

How do I disable media auto-download in WhatsApp?

While this is a super handy feature when connected to free Wi-Fi, auto-downloading media shared by your friends is not the best idea if you are near your data limit.
To disable this feature, go to Settings > Chats and calls > Media auto-download, and configure the options to your liking. Note that voice messages are always automatically downloaded, but their file sizes  usually much smaller than that of pictures and videos.

How do I share and send any file in WhatsApp?

WhatsApp has a relatively limited number of file types you can send: photos, videos, audio, map location, contact details. Even with those supported file types, WhatsApp heavily compresses them. But what if you want to send a PDF or a GIF?
As of version 2.12.489 (currently in beta) WhatsApp support document sharing. Just hit the attachments paperclip and then Document and you can choose from PDFs stored on your device. If you share a lot of documents, there's also a handy way to quickly see a history of what documents have been shared in a conversation. Just hit the trio of dots, then Media and press on the Documents tab.

If you're yet to receive this update, or don't like using beta versions, then the easiest way to circumvent these limitations is to use an app.We recommend one called CloudSend, which links to a Dropbox account and then creates short-link URLs to any type of file you want to share, in WhatsApp or elsewhere. Simply grab the app, hit the share menu for the file and choose CloudSend.

ONLINE PRIVACY ;3WAYS TO WARD OFF CYBERCRIMINAL AND SNOOPS

It’s easy to forget why online privacy is important until something salacious, like last year’s Ashley Madion hack, brings the risks to the forefront. The fact is, our increasingly connected lives make us sitting ducks for bad actors. While there’s no such thing as 100-percent security, there’s still plenty you can do to protect your privacy online.
Cloak your browsing
Your web browsing habits reveal a lot about you, and the trail you leave through your history and cookies can be easily exploited by a ne’er-do-well. Your first stop, therefore, should be Tor, or The Onion Router. This browser directs all internet traffic through a network of computers, or “nodes,” encrypting data along the way, which obscures your browsing habits.
Tor is equal parts famous and infamous. While it’s been used for illicit activities like selling drugs, a la The Silk Road, it’s also favored by whistle-blowers, journalists, and activists who want to anonymously share vital information. The network is currently managed by the nonprofit Tor Project, where you can download it now.

tor
The Tor Project offers an anonymous browser, as well as guidance on your browsing habits.
Like Tor, virtual private networks (VPNs) mask your IP address. With VPN software, a user can connect to a remote server on a VPN provider’s network, which changes the user’s IP address and location accordingly. As with Tor, there are good and bad uses for this tech: VPNs’ ability to grant access to geo-restricted sites has made them popular among Netflix pirates, prompting the streaming giant to crack down on them. PayPal, too, has restricted some VPNs from accepting payments. Nevertheless, VPNs are a handy tool if privacy is a concern.
“By using a VPN and frequently changing the location, plus browsing the internet in incognito or invisible mode (most browsers have this feature), the amount of data that is collected about you decreases,” Dan Gurghian from ibVPN told me.

reddit vpn
The VPN subreddit has a wealth of info on the topic.
VPNs are particularly helpful when using free public Wi-Fi, which can be the Wild West of cyber-threats. Public connections aren’t secure, and your browsing can be snooped on if sites aren’t using HTTPS, says Amit Bareket CEO of SaferVPN.
“Hackers can also use this opportunity to install software on your computer, which can capture confidential information like usernames, passwords, credit card numbers, and email exchanges,” Bareket says.
As you consider the several VPN providers on the market, avoid networks that keep data logs on users. Always check a provider’s terms and conditions. I recommend checking out several VPN review sites—but be wary of affiliate programs that may be biased. Likewise, r/VPN on Reddit usually has a pretty vibrant and critical discussion on VPNs and their privacy and security promises.
Encrypt your communications
The Apple-FBI fight has put the spotlight on encryption, because it can render data inaccessible to anyone, even law enforcement. Of course, that’s exactly what makes it a valuable privacy tool. Applied to email, encryption keeps your communications private.
PGP (Pretty Good Privacy) has set the encryption standard for many years. The software scrambles and unscrambles messages that can only be sent and received with the use of public and private keys. In its early days, the process of using PGP was too cumbersome for most users, but the tech has gradually become easier to use. Mailvelope, for example, is a browser extension that integrates with your webmail account (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.) to generate public and private keys. Secure Gmail by Streak is another popular option but is only available for Chrome. Thunderbird users can check out the Enigmail add-on.
Startups have sprung up, offering dedicated web-based clients and mobile apps that make encryption more user-friendly. ProtonMail, founded by former CERN scientists, allows end-to-end encryption to avoid interception. It’s still in beta but you can reserve an account now. A similar option, Hushmail, charges $34.99 annually.

effscorecard
Is your messaging app up to snuff when it comes to encryption? Check out the Electronic Frontier Foundation’s scorecard
There are also a number of encrypted messaging apps for smartphones. The Electronic Frontier Foundation carried out an exhaustive survey of messaging apps, judging them on criteria such as whether messages are encrypted along all links of their path, and whether the provider can access your messages.
Telegram, from Russia, is one of the top-rated messaging apps and has grown in prominence. Recently, it announced a self-destruct feature that will allow users to remotely kill off their account if they believe it has been compromised. The feature was spurred by the arrest of a journalist in Iran who was using the app.
Other encrypted messaging apps the EFF scored well include CryptoCat, a web and mobile chat platform, and Chatsecure for Android and iOS.
Stay proactive
There are plenty of ways you can stay proactive in managing your online security. You can use DNS Leak Test to check whether your IP details, which are associated with your browsing, are leaking online. When you’re using something like a VPN, you should take this test regularly to make sure there are no flaws in your software.
Achieving the highest degree of privacy is difficult. It requires things like replacing debit/credit card payments and PayPal with cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin—a practice that can make day-to-day transactions difficult.
Covering the basics is key here, but the human element is still important. Be mindful with your security, and wise when it comes to things like changing passwords and avoiding unsecured Wi-Fi networks. Remember: nothing is 100-percent secure.

YOUR IP ADDRESS ,WHO CAN SEE IT AND WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT

Your IP address: Who can see it and what you can do about it.

IP ADDRESS

All Internet communications require Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. If a website you visit couldn't see your IP address, it would have no way to send you pages, images, files, and so on.
To see how easily a site can see your IP address, visit What Is My  IP Address. Or just Google what's my ip address. It's easier to get than your telephone number.
But it's not as scary as it sounds. Assuming you're using a router (as you should), those web sites can only see the router's IP address, not your PC's. They can't tell who in the house is visiting them—a small comfort, I admit, but this also protects you from certain drive-by malware attacks.
What can website administrators find out about you from your router's IP address? They can identify your ISP and figure out approximately where you're located. They will likely be able to identify your neighborhood, but not your home. And they can see how often you (or someone else sharing your router) visit their website.
But they won't be able to see that forever. Chances are your IP address is not a permanent fixture. Most home Internet accounts use a dynamic IP address, which your ISP changes from time to time.
And, of course, if you take your laptop to a coffee house or library, you'll have an entirely different IP address there (and public network security issues to consider).

0317 cyberghost
CyberGhost offers a free VPN service you can use to conceal your IP address.
If you're still worried, you can use a Virtual Private Network (VPN). Once you've set one up, your Internet connections travel encrypted from your computer to the VPN server, and from there, unencrypted, to their final destination. The sites you visit see only the VPN's IP address. The problem, of course, is that the VPN can see everything you do.
I don't use a VPN on a regular basis, but when I do, I currently use the free version of CyberGhost. I'm satisfied with it.

ONLINE PRIVACY TIPS: 3 WAYS TO CONTROL YOUR DIGITAL FOOTPRINT

You leave records of who you are and what you like all over the Internet. Here's how to limit what you leave behind.

FOOTPRINT

J1TECHS

Like real footprints, your digital tracks leave a record of where you’ve been and what you’ve done. They show your searches, what you bought, which sites you visited, and the opinions you’ve expressed on social media.
Many for-profit companies, both legitimate and criminal, can make a profit out of knowing you better. Governments also like to get into the act.
So it’s a good idea to get control of your digital footprint.

1. Be careful in social media

In any online services you’re using, check the privacy settings. On Facebook, for instance, you’ll find them by clicking the lock icon in the upper-left corner of the screen and going through the various options.
0125 facebook privacy 1
But that’s not enough. Before you post your status, re-examine what you’re saying and showing and ask yourself if this is something you’d want your parents, your kids, your in-laws, your boss, or the IRS to read. And then make sure you’re sending it only to the people you want to see it.
0125 facebook privacy 2

2. Use multiple identities

The information you share with one website can be combined with information from another, creating a more complete record of who you are. To protect yourself, try to be different people at different sites.
Few sites identify you by name, but a lot identify you by email address. So use different addresses at different sites. You may even want to consider different credit cards.
0125 blur
Blur, a free Chrome and Firefox extension, allows you to mask your email address. When you enter your email address in a web form, Blur gives you the option to create a new, random address instead. That address forwards to your real address, which the sender never sees.
If you’re willing to pay $39 a year—or $79 for three years—Blur Premium will also mask phone and credit card numbers.

3. Browse privately

Your browser knows an awful lot about you, and it shares that information with a great many strangers. But there are methods of controlling that.
Your browser almost certainly has a private mode where it  won’t save cookies, searches, or history. In Chrome, it’s called New incognito window. In Internet Explorer and Edge, it’s called InPrivate Browsing. In Firefox, it’s New Private Window. But it’s not perfect. Your ISP can still see where you’ve been, and every site you visit will still see your IP address.
0125 private mode
An even better solution is to use the Tor browser, which hides your IP address and encrypts everything for most of the journey between your PC and whomever you’re communicating with. You can think of it as a very private private mode.
